Getting Started

INTERNET MARKETING 101 – PART 1

Working from home and time management sometimes doesn’t mix.

When you work from home, you can experience one distraction after another. Some are avoidable and some not. We’re going to focus today on how to manage the time we DO have.

The first thing you have to remember when you have a home-based business, is that there will be no one around to tell you what to do, when to do, and quite often no one even tells you how to do it. And no one is going to tell you how to organize your time.

So how do you keep it all pulled together? Organize… organize… organize.

Everything happens “on purpose” when you work for yourself. But if you take it seriously, choosing to work from home can become the best decision you’ve ever made.

So, here are the five most important tips that I’ve found extremely helpful.

1. Minimize Your Distractions. Things like email, instant messaging with friends (non-work related) and desk clutter can cause you to have an unproductive day. I find it very helpful to “shut it down” while I’m trying to focus on my work. Distractions can kill your home-work time more than anything else. Turn it all off… (including the TV) and treat it like you would any other 8 to 5 J.O.B.

2. Plan in advance. Don’t leave your day to whatever you can come up with. Lay it all out in advance… ON PAPER… so you’ll know exactly what you need to accomplish for the day.

3. Set your priorities. Do you know exactly what you need to do to make sure that your business is successful? Write these things out in the order of importance, and then set your priorities for the day accordingly.

4. Take a Break. I know that this one might seem a little unproductive, but just like any other job; you need to give your mind a rest for a few minutes. No… not an hour or two but walk away and give your mind time to revitalize. Take a real lunch hour; just don’t forget to go back to work!

5. Stay Focused. If your family is home while you’re working, let them know when your work hours are, and that they can’t just barge in and take your time. I know that many of us choose to work at home so that we can be there, especially for the kids. But make sure that they understand that while you’re working, you should only be disturbed if it’s urgent. I’ve found it helpful to set some time during the day for them. They’ll know that between 12:00 and 1:30, it’s our time. I won’t let work interfere with their time, and they agree not to interfere with work time. It’s a very nice exchange.

Running a home-based business is very freeing, but if you’re not making the money you need, it can be frustrating. To avoid falling into that scenario… the one of not making money, remember that when you “work from home” it’s exactly that. It’s a workday. Then, you’ll enjoy it, you’ll be productive, and EVERYBODY WINS!

3. Domains-Hosting

INTERNET MARKETING 101- PART 3

One of the easiest ways to immediately increase the professionalism of your business is to link it to your own domain name. It doesn’t matter if you believe you have the best business in the world… what matters is how it appears to others… to those who will spend their money with you. Are you positioning yourself as a true leader in whatever industry you’re working? If not, it’s time to start right now.

These days it’s all about branding yourself and standing out from the crowd. So, if your domain name says nothing about you or your company, you’re missing a big piece of the puzzle.

So don’t take this part lightly. Take some time to think about what name you will give out when people ask to be directed to your website.

So what are some of the things you’ll need to strongly think about when choosing your domain name.

1. Is it easy to pronounce?

2. Is it easy to remember?

3. Is it easy to spell?

These three points are not options. If the name you’re considering doesn’t fit these three points, look for another one.

OTHER POINTS TO CONSIDER

1. Try not to use things that would be confusing or take too much time to explain. Examples

- Does “to” mean too, two, or 2
- Does “4u” really mean “for you”

Just try to keep it basic enough so that you don’t inadvertently send your prospects to someone else’s site.

2. Consider also purchasing the .net; .info; .biz; and even dashes and plurals. Why? You don’t want to have someone else build their business for the hard work that you do to build your name.

3. Use really good “keywords” in your domain name. Keywords are words that people will put in the search boxes to find you.

4. IMPORTANT! ALWAYS GET YOUR OWN NAME!!! This is the very best way to brand yourself online.

What happens when a name that you like is not available? Let’s just use the famous John Doe as an example. His name is popular and probably not available for purchase. He could use these options:

johndoepartners.com
johndoecompany.com
whoisjohndoe.com
johndoeonline.com
johndoemarketing.com

Another option is to use every variation with dashes:

johndoeinc.com
john-doe.com
johndoe-inc.com

You can purchase your domain name from any company that sells them. If you’re not sure where to go, just use “GoDaddy”. Most people are familiar or already have accounts here. They will also help you if you need help with linking, redirecting, etc. To visit GoDaddy’s site, simply click the link below.

1. The Marketing Funnel

WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Your Marketing Funnel contains the necessary systems that you will need to have in place to help people to find you, find out about you, find out about your business, become a lead, a prospect, and ultimately, a new member of your team.

While this can be very intricate, I am going to keep it very simple so that the newest person to network marketing can understand. Your main goal: Get as man people as possible to watch a My Video Talk presentation. That’s the best and simplest way to grow this business. People will actually get to experience the product during the presentation.

There’s no better way to explain it than for them to see it first-hand, and YOU don’t even have to be the one presenting. How awesome is that! So, let’s take a look at the diagram above, to explain how this super simple funnel works.

PHASE 1: TOP

This is the largest part of your funnel. It’s blue, which to me, represents all of the abundance of the oceans in the world. They never run dry. This is where you want to have as many people as possible getting their eyes on the MVT presentation. While most companies will have lots of other steps… like home parties, hotel meetings, lead capture pages and the like (we do those to, by the way… and they do work)… but for now, we’re going to keep it so that there won’t be ANYONE who can’t follow our easy marketing system. We’ll get into some other things later. For now, all you want is people watching the presentation every day. And you just repeat that process over, and over, and over again.

PHASE 2: MIDDLE

Notice how the funnel has gotten smaller in the middle. This is because out of the hundreds of people that you get to watch the presentation, only a handful will want more information. And that’s okay… it’s normal. You’ve heard the saying… “some will, some won’t… so what… NEXT! Well, the same thing applies here. In the second phase the lookie loo’s, tire kickers, and ‘curiosity seekers’ will weed themselves out. You dont’ have to do it… they’ll do it themselves. I like the fact that this one’s red. It means you have “red hot” prospects to follow up with… not just ‘empty leads’ who don’t want to talk to you. You’ll help them get their questions answered and give them the extra little nudge they may need to make a decision to join your business.

PHASE 3: BOTTOM

Notice that your funnel has gotten significantly smaller. That’s because these are the “chosen few” who have said yes, and have decided to join you in your business. Green stand for MONEY! This funnel is the same process that you would go through for any business that exists. You put the information in front of masses of people, those who say “no” will go away, the “maybe’s” will stick around for more information, and from that group, you find the one’s who say “YES”. This is just a very, basic explanation of how it works, but once you understand this, you’ll know exactly what it will take for you to keep your business growing and moving forward. If you ever quit working, the funnel will be empty… and that, my friend, is something that you never want to see.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE: While you’re setting up your marketing funnel, DO NOT STOP sharing the business with people that you already know. You can still build your business while you’re learning how to use the internet. DON’T IGNORE THIS, OR YOU’LL BE OFF TO A VERY SLOW START!

That being said, we can now move forward. Go through each step coming up to get your marketing funnel in place, but don’t jump ahead. Each step is important and they’re in this order for a reason.

What’s The MVT Buzz About?

EIGHT-YEAR OLD INTERNATIONAL COMPANY JUST LAUNCHING IN NORTH AMERICA AND TAKING THE U.S. BY STORM!!

So, who and what is My Video Talk and how can you benefit? My Video Talk… first and foremost is a well established company with an amazing “cutting edge” product for the ‘savvy’ internet marketer.

It’s a privately held International company that has been established since 2002. My Video Talk is a debt-free company with corporate offices in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Australia, and has plans for further international expansion into South America, Eastern Europe, and Northern Asia.

Do you love working from home using your computer as your main source of conducting business? Then, this is a company that will give you lots of pleasure. My Video Talk is internet focused and uses proprietary, state-of-the-art software that far exceeds other similar systems on the market today. If cutting edge technology and e-commerce is of any interest to you, then you’ll want to read on.

So often in this “dog-eat-dog” entrepreneurial world, we find so many products and services that simply mimic each other… and not very well, I might add. What ends up happening is this… “my pill is better than your pill” … “my lotion is better than your potion” … “my travel discounts are cheaper than yours…” and it goes on and on and on.

Honestly… For the most part, everyone loves their company because it’s the best right? We get that. That’s why this product is so great! Keep doing what you’re doing… just make it better!!

What if we had a product that doesn’t compete or try to knock down the competition… (it usually doesn’t work well to do that anyway…) a product that regardless of your opportunity, whether network marketing, affiliate marketing, direct sales, or whatever… what if there was something that could work for everyone! Well… there is. And if you take whatever business you’re involved in seriously, you’ll be glad you stumbled upon this one.

Oh, and one more thing… what if that one product that EVERYBODY can use could also pay you handsomely… without you having to leave your primary business to make it happen?

Now, let me speak to the true entrepreneur. Are you honestly looking for a way to position yourself ahead of your competitors. Now… don’t get me wrong. I’m not double-talking here. The real fact is this. Like it or not… we will always find ourselves butting heads and competing for the “top spot” in our industry. And who wouldn’t?

If you, entrepreneur, really want to set yourself apart from all of the copy-cat emails that get dumped on all of us every single day, then this system is definitely something you will want to research a little further.

As you continue to visit the other pages of this review, you’ll begin to see the possibilities (even the profitability) of what My Video Talk can be for you.

Are You Internet Attractive?

Rosalind Green ArticleIF YOU’RE NOT, ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO CHANGE!

Have you ever wondered why you’re not attracting as many people as you’d like through your social media efforts?

In this post, I’d like to share with you some of the reasons this could be happening. Ask yourself these questions…

Are you consistently visible?
Your message has to be seen and heard consistently. Not every now and then, but ALL the time. You have to continuously put out new content so that you’re always current and visible.

Are you listening to what others are saying?
You’ve heard that old saying before… We were given two ears and one mouth for a reason. Whenever you go to a social gathering, you always show yourself friendly first. You mix and mingle with the guests before you start shouting about yourself.

Are you giving as much or more than you’re taking from your Social Media Community?
This one is very important. So you may be wondering… what could you possibly give? How about advice, ideas, encouragement, good news, words of appreciation to those who have given to you already… and the list could go on forever. You don’t want to get a bad rep of always begging and asking… but be a giver and watch it come back to you.

Are you joining groups that interest you?
Where will you find people to socialize with? If you love fishing but hate golf, where do you think you should go? Groups can really help you to develop in many ways, especially if the group is specific to your interests. You can always learn something that you don’t know from someone else… and what better place to connect with those of a like mind.

Do you attend events?
Especially those networking groups. What a really fun way to connect (in person) with those you share your interests. Another great way to learn and grow. You can even find some really cool events online. Find one’s that interest you and become a little social butterfly!

Do you value those that you currently work with?
When you do connect with people, what’s your experience? What’s your reason. If the befriend you, do you befriend them back? If they share with you, do you share back? When you post information, does it benefit anyone other than you? Do you realize that at the end of the day, whoever gives the most value wins? Its true.

Are you “over-killing” your media site memberships?
There are more that 3500 social media sites out there. And while its been taught that you want to be seen all over the Internet, and you do… do you realize that around 10 that you really work should be your max? And even better… just 5 to 7. That is “primary” sites that you will actually participate heavily in. Yes, go for the 50 secondary sites and automate them through ping.fm, but just use them for link building and traffic purposes. But find your “core” group of sites and don’t be a stranger. Heck, Facebook alone could keep you busy all day!!

Are you “over-monetizing” your site?
Yes, we know that there’s nothing wrong with monetizing. You SHOULD do it, but… let’s not get too carried away. Again, if you come across as trying to bleed your friends and visitors to death, they’ll stop visiting you. It’s just not a good idea to put over emphasize or be too blatant with it. Remember… focus on giving before you receive. It will take you a long way.

Do you believe that you’re just as special as all the Guru’s you see online?
Don’t fall into that trap of thinking that you’re a “nobody” just because you haven’t hit the million yet. That’s not just for other people. It can be for you too. If you can realize the greatness that you have on the inside, then social media can take you a very long way.

Are you Branding yourself strongly?
Your “Brand” is WHO YOU ARE online. Its the only way that people will get to know and remember you. Now here’s the million dollar question. What will they remember? Find your “punch line” like the ones we all remember fro TV commercials: “Where’s the beef?”, “can you hear me now?”, “You asked for it, you got it… Toyota,” and my all-time fav… “Just do It.” Wouldn’t it be great when your name is all it takes to brand you.. as in… TRUMP! Work on finding that perfect slogan or phrase to depict YOU… to brand YOU… to tell what YOU are all about.

And yes, there are a plenty of other questions we could ask, but let’s just start by focusing on these. Social Media can and WILL take you very far, but only as far as you let it.

Review this list one more time and applaud the things that you’re doing right. And for those that need a little help… you know what to do!
