Why Do You Want To Blog?

If you’ve recently caught the “blogging bug”… congratulations. Blogging can be fun, so if you’re like most bloggers, you’re in for a real treat. There are many reasons for starting a new blog. For some, its a way to share what’s going on in your life with your family and friends. For others, it’s a way to share knowledge about their favorite subject or even a hobby. And for many… it’s one of the best ways to make money from home, bar none!

But, you have to know what YOUR reason is. And whatever it is, you want to be sure to start off right. This article will help you do just that.

Let me start by saying… blogging is not a difficult thing to learn. To be honest, you could go from knowing absolutely nothing to learning everything you need to know about putting up your first blog in just about an hour or so.

To get you started right, here are just a few tips I’d like to share with you…

1.  As a beginner, you could start your first blog for free. Let me say that I don’t recommend free platforms for serious bloggers, but if you’re just getting your feet wet, free is fine. But there is a draw-back you shouldn’t ignore. If you really want to take this whole blogging thing to another level, all of the work that you put into that “free” blog platform could be time wasted. You ARE going to want to transfer to your own hosted blog once you get the ball rolling. Don’t fret though. Hosted blogs are only around $7 to $8 per month, and the difference between hosted and “free” are HUGE.

Here are some key points to know. Whether you use a free or hosted blog, you will have access to hundreds of professional looking blog designs and themes that will serve any purpose. Both will also include many plug-ins and widgets that you can add to enhance your blog. These are also usually free.

2.  Now this part is very important. Please consider these two things before starting your blog. First… what will the main topic be and who are the people that you would like to reach? Next… is your blog going to be about something you love to talk about… or something you’d love to make money with… or a combination of both?

The great part about blogging is that these things can absolutely overlap. Meaning, you can blog about something that you love that will also make you money. That is… if what you love is something that enough people are also interested in knowing more about. Consider this point very closely.

3.  Once you get your blog started, especially if its a business blog, you’ll want people to visit it often. You keep them coming back by making sure that the things you write about and other information you include is related to the main topic. In other words… If your blog is about proper diet and exercise, don’t write about house-training your pet. You get the picture, right? See, at the end of the day, people come back to your blog because they were interested in your main topic. So, give them what they want!

4.  Now let’s talk about your very first step. If you want to start a business and make money with your blog, consider using a unique domain name and getting your own web hosting account. I know this may sound a little foreign right now, but both of these are very basic, inexpensive tools that are MUST HAVE’s for the serious blogger. Even though you’re not sure why right now, please trust me on this. As you get more information regarding this topic, you’ll really be glad you did this first.
